Pitch a story
We welcome pitches about the traditions, objects, gatherings and shared experiences that give sport its character. A strong proposal has a clear subject, a reader in mind and a fresh reason to look closer.
What we are looking for
Pitch an original, focused piece about sporting culture and participation: perhaps a small ritual, a keepsake with a story, or the role a gathering plays in a community. We welcome accessible explanations and considered comparisons, not match predictions, performance promises or professional advice.
Make the pitch specific
Use the Contact page to tell us the proposed subject, your main idea, why it may interest our readers and how you would approach it. Mention any sources or permissions the piece would rely on, and disclose relevant interests. A concise proposal is more useful than a finished article sent without context.
Before sending
Please pitch work you have the right to submit and tell us if it has appeared elsewhere or is under consideration elsewhere. We review ideas for fit and clarity; sending a proposal does not guarantee publication.
